The Importance of a Second Shooter On Your Wedding Day
and why you will always have one with us!
Your wedding day flies by! Seriously, I’ve been there and know. Somebody told me the day or so before, “Remember to take 30 seconds when all your guests are laughing and celebrating, look around the room and just soak it in.”
So much happens in such a condensed timeline, that two photographers will maximize that timeline.
Let’s start with how much happens in such a sort amount of time on your wedding day. There is everything from hair, make-up and mimosas with the ladies to the beers and bowties with the guys in another location. When arriving at the ceremony location, we roll right into the first look or wedding party portraits. Then it’s catching the groom’s reaction as the bride walks down the aisle and all the emotions and special moments during the ceremony. We aren’t even to the bride and groom portraits and a second shooter would have already been crucial!
Unless your photographer can be two places at once, it is nearly impossible to catch it all.
There is no way to catch every angle, tear, smile, or whisper in the ear with just one photographer. We believe that if you’re going to pay the investment of premiere photography on your wedding day that making sure that two photographers are included, is a must! Let’s take the ceremony for example, catching the groom’s reaction as his bride walks to him while simultaneously capturing the bride as she sees her groom is what makes that moment come to life when looking back at photos. How would you choose which angle is more important?! I don’t want you to have to!
Knowing your photographers and your photographers understanding your story has so much value.
Many of photographers will hire out a second photographer (for an extra cost) or train their own associate. The amazing part about working with us is you will already know and have worked with both of us prior to your wedding. We will be the ones meeting with you, hearing your story, photographing your engagement, talking over the timeline, and every detail in between. There is a comfort in all of this that just will leave you breathing a sigh of relief. We want your wedding photography to be a huge detail you don’t have any worry about on your big day.
While the lead photographer is focused on you, the second can capture the celebration!
From the cake to the guest favors to the floral design, every detail of your wedding day was thoughtfully planned out. Capturing the bride and groom is the main focus but so much is lost when the details aren’t also captured. We also believe this means the guests! You invite the most important people in your lives to celebrate with and capturing their celebration of your marriage is something that will make you want to go back and look over your wedding album each and every year!
If you’re not convinced about the importance of a second photographer yet, here’s one last example.
Let’s say, God forbid, something happens to the lead photographer’s equipment mid day. Every well-prepared photographer knows there is a possibility of this at some point in their career. That is why we build in redundancies. Having a second photographer there that has intimate knowledge of the timeline and important points during the day can literally pick up and keep the day rolling until the equipment issue can be fixed. It’s a total drag scenario but with us, you wouldn’t even notice there was a problem. We know how to keep on keeping on to leave you completely worry free.
