Justin and Sandy - An Intimate Wedding at The Basilica of St. Josaphat and Villa Terrace
Intimate Wedding with Tradition and History
Justin and Sandy did a thoughtful job planning each and every part of their day. With their closest family and friends around them they had their ceremony at the historic Basilica of St. Josaphat. This church broke ground in 1896 and is full of awe-inspiring architecture and art. During their ceremony it was important to the bride and groom to include parts of their family culture and tradition. They chose to include the Mexican wedding tradition of involving el lazo. This is a wedding lasso that symbolizes everlasting love and unity. It is shaped like a figure eight and is placed over the couple. It was so special to see Sandy’s parents place it over them and the Priest bless their union.
From Historical Homes to Their Home
After the beautiful ceremony we were able to take photos on the Milwaukee Lakefront at the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum. There is not a bad place to photograph at this location! From the Terrazzo della Luna to the Renaissance Garden and everything in between this venue is breathtaking. This couple made sure to bring art, culture, and history into each part of their wedding!
We celebrated the night away not in a backyard reception but rather a front yard one! Yes, you heard that right! Justin and Sandy had a big white tent perfectly fit into their front driveway. With huge flowering trees and twinkle lights, it was so intimate with all their family and friends around. Once it got dark we lit up the sparklers and had some fun photographing our couple running through the tunnel of sparks! It was so special to us to be able to capture all the love that went into this day!
